This right here is a thing! More specifically, it’s the rough sketch to the Rise of the Denizens track art. Here you can see a couple of the little compositional goofs I mentioned in my long, rambling commentary (i.e Cetus’ tail not flowing well with the composition as a whole, Davesprite having both wings), and you can basically see how I started this whole thing off. One of these days I might make a long, rambling post about my process, but for now you can just have a rough sketch I did.
This entire sketch took about an hour or so since there was a whole lot going on in it, and as you can see I was still trying to decide on the look of the border areas.
Another fun fact! I was originally going to increase this to 1025x1025 and give it a small border similar to what some of the track art pieces on the official Genesis Frog album have, but I ultimately scrapped the idea. The border was going to be mostly green since that’s Jade’s trademark color, and little remnants of it actually exist in Cetus and Typheus’ borders in the final picture! I just felt that the full border wouldn’t fit in with the picture as a whole.
Maybe I’ll bring that and Jack back if I ever get around to reworking this in a higher resolution, should I find a way to get them to fit in properly. A high-resolution version of this is simply very low priority at the moment is all.
